The experienced team collaborates with Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) to offer clients new loans, refinancing, and restructuring of existing loans, alongside comprehensive liability management. The Private Bank delivers creative borrowing solutions across a variety of asset classes, including marketable securities, alternative investments, real estate, and more bespoke assets like aviation, fine art, or vineyards. Team & Role Overview
Capital and Funding Analyst within Goldman Sachs Private Bank plays a crucial role in managing the financial resources of the business unit. The position involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to address issues in the loan origination and funding process, while also projecting and managing foreign exchange (FX) risk. This role requires a strong understanding of financial resources, risk management, and effective communication with various stakeholders.
Principal Responsibilities – Franchise Management
- PnL Management: In collaboration with the Wealth Management Finance team, manage daily profit and loss (PnL), monitor risk limits, oversee balance sheet management, and assist in capital planning.
- Forecasting: Project capital requirements, balance sheet status, and top-line revenues for use in business planning and stress testing by firm management.
- Strategic Initiatives: Support franchise managers in driving strategic initiatives related to lending products, including the launch of new products, through data analysis, financial modeling, and presentation preparation.
- Risk Integrity: Ensure the integrity of the loan book by coordinating across underwriters, operations, and other internal stakeholders to manage the origination, servicing, and portfolio management processes.
- Transaction Support: Provide support for structuring new transactions efficiently, taking into account liquidity, capital, and loan booking processes within the relevant governance and controls frameworks.
- Books/Records Monitoring: Work with Wealth Management Finance and Controllers to monitor the integrity of books and records.
- Lifecycle Management: Understand, monitor, and support the loan origination and funding processes throughout the lifecycle of a loan.
- Internal Collaboration: Act as the business's representative when dealing with internal groups to resolve issues related to Private Bank products.
Principal Responsibilities – Resource Management
- Financial Resource Footprint: Manage the financial resource footprint for the loan portfolio, including measuring and monitoring funding sources, regulatory capital consumption, and compliance with 23A and Reg W regulations.
- Funding Recommendations: Make informed recommendations regarding funding sources to maximize revenues within liquidity risk tolerance and identify process or structure adjustments to enhance capital efficiencies.
- Governance and Controls: Ensure that business operations are conducted within the established governance and controls framework.
- Ad-Hoc Management: Handle ad-hoc requests from senior management, including data management, reporting, and preparation of ad-hoc presentations.
Experience & Skills Required
- Industry Experience: Experience in or supporting financial services, with a solid understanding of financial resource management.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong desire to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, results-driven environment.
